Ambiance Congo: October 21, 2012

Welcome!
You are invited to listen to two hours of Congolese popular music.
Most of the program this time was from CDs from the 90s, but we have some LP tracks and reissues as well.
We start off with a song from Esperant with Papa Wemba and Viva la Musica, one that many seemed to enjoy quite a bit. I love it when the phone calls come in supporting this music!
There are a couple more songs with Viva and Viva musicians, then a killer classic by Zaiko Langa-Langa. There is also a song by Franco & OK Jazz and a couple of modern covers of their past hits. And of course, MORE!
Enjoy! If you are so moved, please post a comment or request.

  1. No beer bottles this week so instead, mix up quite a bit of Papa Wemba with some Santa Nyanga, chuck in some Extra Musica, a pinch of Wenge El Paris and a handful of Tomawaks, leave to ferment for a couple of hours and bingo! - a potent brew. Who needs Primus?
That Beau Temps Cd is superb isn't it? - all the tracks on it sound similar so presumably they come from consecutive LPs. Any idea what era they date from? You can probably tell who's playing on it but I haven't a clue. If Jacko knew then I guess they'd print some information on their CD liners....then again, maybe they wouldn't.
Anyway, many thanks David for another quality-controlled AC show.

  2. Dave
Thanks for writing. The songs on the Beau Temps CD are from 1982 or there-abouts.
